A 27 year-old mother, Filista Onyango from Ugenya, Siaya County, is appealing to well-wishers for urgent assistance as she battles Stage 4 breast cancer while struggling to care for her three month old baby girl.
Filista, who is currently living in Olkaria, Naivasha, says her condition has left her too weak to work or provide for her child.
She is also unable to breastfeed due to her illness, and without a source of income, she cannot afford infant formula or other basic necessities.
As a result, the baby’s health is reportedly deteriorating.

According to Filista, she is an orphan with no siblings or close family members to support her.
She further says that her husband abandoned her shortly after the baby was born, leaving her to face the challenges alone.
Since then, she has been unable to access the medical treatment she urgently needs.
In previous months, Filista posted appeals in several Facebook groups seeking someone willing to take care of her baby because she feared she could no longer provide the care the child deserves.
However, she says no one has come forward.
She is now making a fresh appeal to individuals, charitable organizations, faith based groups, children’s services, and government agencies to assist both her and her baby. Support in the form of medical care, infant nutrition, temporary shelter, or child welfare assistance could make a significant difference.
Anyone willing to offer help or obtain more information may contact Filista directly on 0708 020 638.
