Four armed robbers riding on two motorcycles staged a daring robbery at a restaurant along General Mathenge Road in Nairobi’s Westlands area on Saturday night.

The robbers made away with seven mobile phones and a laptop.

According to police, the attackers parked their motorcycles along the pedestrian walkway before two of them entered Chaiiwali Hotel posing as customers.

Once inside, they drew pistols and ordered patrons to surrender their valuables.

The robbery, which lasted less than a minute, saw the suspects steal seven assorted mobile phones and one HP laptop from customers enjoying their beverages.

As they fled, the gunmen fired two rounds from a pistol into the air before escaping towards the Parklands area.

Police officers who responded to the distress call recovered one spent cartridge at the scene, which was preserved as an exhibit.

Investigators immediately launched a pursuit, with the stolen phones later being traced to the Kariobangi area.

Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) in Gigiri have taken over the case, and efforts to identify and arrest the suspects are ongoing.
No injuries were reported during the incident.
