An electronics engineer and a former teacher, Philip Sabwa Kitoto is an ordained Christian minister with the Kenya Assemblies of God (KAG) church.
He currently serves as the Church’s General Superintendent (The presiding Bishop) whose life and leadership reflect a journey shaped by both professional discipline and deep pastoral conviction.

Bishop Kitoto was born in Tigoi Village in Vihiga County in western Kenya, where he grew up in a large family of eleven children.

The Bishop has openly shared that he was not particularly disciplined in his youth, describing himself as “mischievous” before later embracing a more focused path in life.
Before entering full time ministry, Bishop Kitoto pursued training in electronic engineering and went on to work in the education sector as a teacher.
His competence and leadership ability saw him rise to the position of departmental head within a school, a season that helped shape his administrative strength and structured approach to leadership.
This background in engineering and education as he talked to DNK-International continues to influence the way he leads, bringing clarity, organizational, and strategic thinking into the ministry.
His ministerial journey became more defined through his involvement with the International Christian Centre (ICC) in Nairobi, where he was ordained and later rose to become Senior Pastor.
During his tenure at ICC, which spanned a significant period of growth, he led the church through expansion from a single congregation into a multi-campus ministry with several branches across Kenya and beyond.
This phase of leadership established him as a capable builder and visionary within the Pentecostal church landscape.
In 2018, Bishop Kitoto was elected as the General Superintendent of the Kenya Assemblies of God (KAG), the highest leadership office within a denomination whose global headquarter is in United States.
In this role as bishop, he provides spiritual oversight and direction to thousands of churches across the nation, helping to shape doctrine, governance, and mission strategy.
His leadership extends into the academic space as the Chancellor of KAG EAST University in Kitengela, where he plays a role in raising and equipping future leaders for ministry and society.
KAG has equally sponsored hundreds of private primary schools across the country which continue to shape the life of many intellectually.
He has also served as the Chairman of the Evangelical Alliance of Kenya (EAK), a position that places him at the centre of fostering unity and collaboration among evangelical churches and organizations across the country.
Beyond church leadership, Bishop Kitoto has built a strong public voice through his consistent engagement with media and society.

For over a decade, Kitoto has written a widely read column in a leading Kenyan newspaper, focusing on relationships, marriage, parenting, and personal development.
Through this platform, he has addressed real life challenges such as conflict in marriage, infidelity, family dynamics, and emotional well being, financial literacy offering practical guidance grounded in Christian values.
This aspect of his ministry has made him a trusted counselor to many beyond the walls of the church.

His influence also extends internationally through his involvement in global evangelical and Pentecostal networks, where he contributes to conversations on leadership,Church governance, discipleship, and the future of the Church within an ever changing world.
According to bishop Kitoto, at the center of his life is his family.
He has been the husband to Dinah Kitoto for the last 44 years, and together they have built a strong family unit that often informs and reinforces his teachings on marriage and relationships.
With decades of experience spanning education, pastoral ministry, national leadership, and public engagement, Bishop Kitoto continues to serve as a key voice in shaping leaders, strengthening families, and advancing the mission of the Church in Kenya and across the wider global Christian community.
