A major step has been taken towards the construction of a mausoleum in honour of the late ODM leader Raila Amolo Odinga.
A delegation from the National Museums of Kenya and the Regional Public Works Department yesterday conducted a meeting at Kang’o Ka Jaramogi in Bondo, Siaya County with prospective contractors on the bidding process for the construction of the mausoleum.
The delegation was led by Architect Samson Malaki from the National Museums of Kenya headquarters in Nairobi.
The meeting focused on guiding bidders on the proper completion of tender documents for the project.
Also present was Michael Chege from the Nyanza Regional Public Works Department representing the National Government.
Officials indicated that once the project is commissioned and completed, the contractor is expected to hand over the mausoleum to the responsible ministry by September 30, 2026.
The timeline is intended to ensure the facility is ready ahead of the first anniversary commemoration of the late former Prime Minister, scheduled for October 15.
The mausoleum is expected to serve as a lasting memorial to Raila Odinga’s legacy and contribution to Kenya’s political history.
