Elephant Attack Claims Life of Kwale Man

A 46 year old man was killed has been killed by an elephant attack in Kwale County.

Police at Ndavaya Police Station said that the incident was reported yesterday afternoon by Mwandimu Sub-location Assistant Chief Mwangolo Tsuma.

He informed police of a body discovered in Kambigu Village, Mwandimu Location.

Police officers from Ndavaya Police Station, accompanied by Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) officers visited the scene as investigations established that Kalu Nyawa Jefa, 46, a resident of the area was last seen at around 7:00 p.m. on June 4 while shopping at Kambigu Market.

Officers found the body bearing severe injuries, including multiple fractures and extensive trauma consistent with a stampede.

The scene was scattered with elephant footprints.

The body was moved to Kinango Sub-County Hospital Mortuary, where it awaits a post-mortem examination.
