Police in Kangema, Murang’a county, have arrested a 29 year old man accused of allegedly poisoning his three year old child.
In a report filed at Kanyenyaini Police Station yesterday afternoon,the incident was reported by Faith Nyambura who indicated that her ex-husband, identified as John Karagu Wanjiku, poisoned their child identified as S.W.
The mother reportedly rushed to the scene after receiving information about the incident and found the child vomiting severely.
The minor was immediately taken to Kanyenyaini Health Centre where she received first aid before being referred to Murang’a County Referral Hospital for specialized treatment.
Police said the suspect was found leaving the scene where the child had been left moments before the poisoning incident was discovered.
Officers from the DCI Kangema alongside police officers from Kanyenyaini Police Station visited the scene and launched investigations into the matter.
The suspect was arrested and placed in police custody pending arraignment in court once investigations are completed.
