GBV WATCH:Guest house worker found murdered,raped in Mackinnon

Police in Mackinnon area,Kwale county have launched investigations following the raping and killing of a guest house worker in Meli Kubwa area.

According to a police report from Mackinnon Police Station, the incident was reported by Peris Njeri, a resident of Meli Kubwa.

She alerted police after her casual labourer, identified as Catherine Mumbua Mutua, was discovered dead inside a room at Golden Guest House.

Preliminary findings indicate that the deceased had been carrying out her routine duties,cleaning rooms and changing beddings—at around 10:00 a.m. when she was attacked by an unknown assailant.

Investigators believe a struggle ensued during which the attacker overpowered her, leading to her death.

The body was found lying on a bed, with clear signs suggesting a violent encounter.

Personal items, including clothing and room keys, were scattered across the room, pointing to a possible struggle before the fatal incident.

Officers from Mackinnon Police Station, alongside detectives from DCI Taru, visited and processed the scene.

The body was later moved to Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital mortuary, where a postmortem examination is expected to be conducted as efforts are ongoing to identify and apprehend the suspect behind the heinous act.
