An 80 year old woman is receiving medical treatment after being raped by a man known to her who reportedly broke into her home in Ithanga, Murang’a County, during the early hours of Thursday.
According to police, the incident was reported at Ithanga Police Station in the morning by the victim identified as SNG.
She’s a resident of Mukundi Village in Ithanga Location.
She told investigators that at about 3:30 a.m., a man well known to her broke into her iron sheet house through the side wall before raping her.
The suspect reportedly fled the scene after the attack.
After the ordeal SNG raised an alarm, attracting the attention of nearby residents who responded and escorted her to Ithanga Police Station to report the incident.
Police officers immediately facilitated her transfer to Ithanga Health Centre for urgent medical attention and examination as investigations into the attack commenced.
Officers said efforts to trace and apprehend the suspect are underway, with further investigations continuing.
