Man Arrested After Attempting to Enter DOD With Fake Military ID

A man aged 45 years old has been arrested after allegedly attempting to gain access to Department of Defence Headquarters,Nairobi using a fake military identification card.

According to a police report recorded at Kilimani Police Station yesterday, the suspect, identified as Ferdinand Kibet Chelego Kiprono was arrested on the night of July 2 by military officers from the DoD and later handed over to the police.

Investigators say the suspect tried to access the Defence Headquarters using a forged military identity card bearing the name Major Johnki Metian Kirtela.

A subsequent search reportedly led to the recovery of another national identity card in the name of Bethel Kibet Cheruiyot.

Police said the suspect was interrogated but failed to provide a satisfactory explanation regarding his identity and possession of the documents.

He was subsequently placed in police custody pending further interrogation by a multi-agency security team.

Police have launched investigations into the incident to establish the suspect’s identity, motive, and whether he acted alone or as part of a wider network.
