Man drugged,loses Sh 920,000 in Sagana bar meeting

A man has been stupefied and robbed a huge amount of money at a bar in Sagana township,Kirinyaga County.

The incident occurred yesterday after the man met two women at the entertainment spot.

According to a police report filed at Sagana Police Station, the incident at Starwood Gardens.

The victim, identified as Jemlick Bundi Gitari, a resident of Kutus, told police that he had received a call from a woman he knew, Esther Mungai. The two agreed to meet at the venue, where Mungai arrived in the company of another woman, Beatrice Mosese.

Gitari reported that he ordered drinks for the trio, but shortly after consuming them, he lost awareness.

He later regained consciousness to find himself alone, with no recollection of what had transpired.

Upon checking his bank account, he discovered that a total of Sh 920,000 had been fraudulently withdrawn in three transactions,Sh 700,000, Sh 14,000, and Sh 80,000.

Police officers from Sagana Police Station, alongside detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), visited the scene and launched investigations into the matter.

Police have classified the case as Pending Under Investigation (P.U.I), with efforts underway to trace the suspects and recover the stolen funds.

The incident adds to a growing concern over rising cases of drink spiking and targeted theft in entertainment venues, with police urging members of the public to exercise caution when meeting acquaintances in such settings.
