A man who has allegedly been on the run in Sh150 Million alleged land fraud since 2018 has finally been charged at a Milimani court.
John Kigumo Mwaura, who appeared before Milimani magistrate Geoffrey Onsarigo pleaded not guilty to all the 12 counts.
Mugo will however be detained until May 21,2026, awaiting for a pre-bail report.
Also to be charged alongside Mugo,is Abdisalam Adan Hussein who is yet to be arrested and arraigned in court.
Ealier on,the office of the director of Public Prosecutions filed an application opposing the released of the accused on bond or cash citing lack of cooperation.
According to DPP, the accused has been on the run despite being summoned by the investigations officers from the land fraud department as well as failing to honor courts sermons.
The DPP also told the trial magistrate that there was an affidavit sworn in the effect to that application by the investigations officer, an application that was supported by the lawyer watching brief for the complainant mr Paul Macharia.
While opposing the application by the DPP, lawyer for the accused told the court that his client has been sick, and was severally admitted in various hospital including Mama Lucy hospital.
He also added that the accused person is not a flight risk, and has affixed place of aboard where he resides with his family.
According to the main count, it is alleged that on or before April 29,2019 at unknown place within the Republic of Kenya, jointly conspired to defraud Sabahat Shikatali Babib and Sadaff LR NO .1870/iii/417 IR no 86014 (Original number 1870/232/2) IR no 81623 /1 measuring approximately 0.1178 Ha located in Wetlands in Nairobi County valued at Sh 150 Million by falsely registering a lease document of the said parcel of land ,a fact you knew to be false.
The matter will now be mentioned on Thursday May 21, 2026 before issuing of bond or cash bail ,after a pre-bail report has been availled.
