MP Caleb Mule Loses Two Cows to Night Time Livestock Thieves in Machakos

A wave of livestock theft has struck Machakos County after thieves stole two cows belonging to Machakos Town Member of Parliament Caleb Mule during a night raid at Kayumbani Village.

According to a police report filed at Machakos Police Station yesterday, the incident was reported by Kathekakai Sub-Location Assistant Chief Joseph Nzau, who informed officers that a brown cow and a black and white cow had been stolen from the area.

Police officers led by the OCS rushed to the scene at Kathekakai Sub-location and established that the stolen animals belonged to the MP.

Investigations revealed that the livestock had been entrusted to two herdsmen, Festus Munguti and Isaac Muli.

Preliminary findings indicate that unknown suspects gained access to the compound during the night, opened the cattle shed and drove all eight cattle out towards a nearby murram road.

The thieves reportedly cut through a barbed wire fence before driving the herd along the road.

They later separated two cows from the group and escaped with them, abandoning the remaining six animals along the roadside.

Police visited and documented the scene as investigations commenced.

Police have launched efforts to trace and recover the stolen livestock and identify those responsible for the theft.

The incident adds to growing concerns over livestock theft in several parts of the country, where farmers and livestock owners continue to suffer significant losses due to criminal activities targeting their animals.
