Residents of Kangujo and surrounding areas in Mshomoroni can now breathe a sigh of relief after police officers from Junda Police Post arrested a suspected notorious gang leader linked to a series of robberies and criminal activities within Kisauni Sub-County, Mombasa County.

The suspect, identified as Mohammed Seif Mwachimvuno alias “Ghetto”, 25, was arrested on Friday evening during a police operation conducted following a tip-off from members of the public.

According to police, officers swiftly raided a suspected hideout in the Kangujo area where they cornered and arrested him.

A quick search conducted during the arrest led to the recovery of a panga concealed on the right side of his waist.

Police further revealed that two other suspected gang members managed to escape after noticing the presence of officers, prompting an ongoing manhunt.

Authorities believe the suspect is the leader of a criminal gang responsible for a wave of robberies and related offences in Barsheba, Kangujo, Bakarani, and Sunlight areas within the command.

The suspect was later escorted to the police station and placed in custody pending his arraignment in court on Monday.

Police have vowed to intensify operations in the area and track down the remaining suspects.
