A woman aged 25 has died after she was allegedly assaulted by her husband following an argument at their rented house in Mauko Centre, Busia County.
Police said the incident was reported by the area assistant chief, Mulama Joseph, after receiving information from the area village elder and caretaker of the deceased.
The woman, identified as Sharon, was reportedly rushed to MidSpar Clinic for treatment before being referred to Busia County Hospital.
However, upon arrival, she was found to have succumbed to her injuries.
Her body was taken to the Busia County Hospital mortuary for preservation and postmortem examination.
Police and DCI officers from Busia Police Station visited and processed the scene, where the deceased was found with visible injuries to the head.
Crime Scene Investigation officers documented the scene as investigations into the circumstances surrounding her death commenced.
Her husband, identified by police as Patrick Mulemia, is reported to have been involved in the alleged assault.
The case is being handled by DCI Busia as investigations continue.
