A suspected motorcyle thief was burnt to death by an angry mob in Angorom,Teso South, Busia County after allegedly attempting to steal a motorcycle from a homestead.
The incident occurred at around on Tuesday night in Mwari Village, Amerikwai Sub-location, Ang’orom Location.
According to police, the incident was reported by a resident, Antony Nyongesa, prompting officers led by the OCS and detectives from the DCI Teso South.
The officers found the burnt body of an unidentified man having been lynched and set ablaze by members of the public.
Preliminary investigations indicate the deceased had allegedly been caught trying to steal a motorcycle parked within a compound in the village.
The body, which had extensive burn injuries, was moved to the Busia County Referral Hospital mortuary for identification and a post-mortem examination.
Police have launched investigations into the incident, with detectives from DCI Teso South handling the case as they seek to identify both the deceased and those involved in the mob killing.
