A teacher aged 30 has been arrested after allegedly assaulting a female colleague during an altercation at a hotel in Kiambu Town, leaving her with serious injuries.
The incident occurred early hours of Wednesday at Todas Hotel after the hotel’s night supervisor alerted police that a fight had broken out in one of the rooms and that a woman was screaming for help.
Police officers who responded to the distress call found 35 year old Lilian Ngendo, a teacher at Kiambu High School, with a deep cut on her forehead.
Preliminary investigations indicate that she had allegedly been assaulted by James Mugo Wanja, 30, also a teacher at the same school, following an argument inside the hotel room.
The suspect was arrested at the scene and taken to Kiambu Police Station, while the injured woman was rushed to Kiambu Level 5 Hospital for treatment.
Police have classified the matter as a serious assault case and have launched investigations.
The suspect remains in custody pending further police action.
