The wife and brother of slain prominent North Rift farmer cum businessman Joseph Njenga Njuguna are set to be charged with murder on Thursday at a Kitale court.
Kitale Magistrate Wilkister Magwi Ghati on Wednesday directed that Mary Muthoni and Michael Maina Karembesha be formally charged after the DCI in Endebess, through the prosecution, closed a miscellaneous file in which investigators had sought more time to conduct investigations on them before charging them officially.
The court also ordered the release of watchman Joseph Mboche, who will reportedly serve as a state witness in the case after the prosecution indicated it had found no grounds to link him with the murder.
Njuguna, 68, was found murdered inside his home at Kiptugut Farm in Kimase Village, Twiga Location, Endebess, Trans Nzoia County, about three weeks ago.
His wife, Muthoni, was reportedly abducted during the incident but was later found in Kitale town.
