Young Teacher Found Dead by Suicide at Naivasha Residence

A 26 year old teacher attached to Unity High School in Naivasha,Nakuru county has been found dead by suicide at his rented house in Mountain View Estate.

The deceased, identified as Allan Chege Njenga, reportedly failed to report to school on Monday for a scheduled students’ trip to 14 Falls in Thika, raising concern among his colleagues.

According to police, the school’s principal, Margaret Karanja, made several unsuccessful attempts to reach the teacher by phone before mobilising fellow staff members to check on him at his residence.

Upon arrival, they found the house locked from inside and alerted the police.

Officers from Naivasha Police Station, accompanied by Crime Scene Investigators from the Sub-County Criminal Investigations Office, visited the scene and established that the teacher had died after hanging himself using a manila rope tied to the roof of the house.

No suicide note was recovered.

The scene was processed and documented before the body was moved to the Naivasha Sub-County Hospital Mortuary for preservation pending a post-mortem examination.

Police have launched investigations to establish the circumstances surrounding the death.
