Drugs and weapons recovered from gang members in Kayaba slums

Police officers based at South B Police Station in Makadara,Nairobi have arrested 17 individuals suspected to be part of an organised criminal gang following an operation within Mukuru Kayaba Slums.

The operation was conducted today morning after police received information from members of the public

They were intercepted while travelling in a Nissan matatu that had no registration plates and featured tinted windows.

Upon conducting a search, officers recovered 127 rolls of bhang along with several crude weapons, including a Somali sword, a machete, two daggers, and a penknife.

Further inspection of the vehicle led to the discovery of two number plates bearing registration KDC 274S concealed beneath a passenger seat.

The motor vehicle and all suspects were escorted to South B Police Station, where they are currently in custody.

Police noted that the suspects originate from different parts of Nairobi, suggesting coordination in pursuit of a common criminal objective.

The individuals are expected to face multiple charges, including possession of narcotic drugs, preparation to commit a felony, and traffic related offences.
