Police officers in Nairobi’s Kayole area have today recovered a loaded Falcon pistol and arrested three suspects.
The arrest followed an ongoing crackdown targeting non-compliant motorcycles along Kangundo Road.
According to a police report, the incident occurred in the afternoon near Saika Stage.
The officers were conducting the operation when they intercepted a motorcycle registration number KMGS 376T carrying a rider and two pillion passengers.
Police said the motorcycle slowed down and attempted to divert into Saika Estate, prompting officers to stop it and switch off the ignition.
Two pillion passengers reportedly jumped off and fled on foot, leading officers into a chase.
During the pursuit, one suspect identified as Shem Kariuki Ondieki, 20, was arrested after dropping an object while escaping.
Officers later recovered the item, which was identified as a Falcon pistol loaded with ten rounds of ammunition.
Scene of Crime officers processed the area as investigations commenced.
The motorcycle rider, identified as Emanuel Maina Kioi, 19, alongside another passenger, remains in police custody as detectives pursue the remaining suspect who is believed to be armed.
Police have since extended the operation to the neighbouring Korogocho and Dandora areas in a bid to track down the fugitive suspect.
The recovered motorcycle and two Samsung mobile phones found in possession of the suspects were detained as exhibits at the station.
