Fire Breaks Out at Continentsl House,Cause Under Investigation

A fire incident was reported on the evening of June 6, 2026, at Continental House, located next to Bunge Towers within the Parliament precincts in Nairobi.


According to a report recorded at Parliament Police Station under OB No. 21/06/06/2026 at 1845 hrs, security officers manning the building, including Sgt Chokera, Sgt Patrick Mutiso, PC Ph

annel Ombati, and PC Isaiah Ngome, observed heavy smoke emanating from the basement area while on guard duty.
The officers immediately alerted Parliament Police Station, prompting a rapid emergency response. Police officers from Parliament Police Station, including the Officer Commanding Station (OCS), Crime Scene Investigations (CSI) personnel, the Officer Commanding DCI, and Parliament officials, rushed to the scene.


Senior officials who later visited the site included the Central Sub-County Police Commander, the Central Sub-County Criminal Investigations Officer (SCCIO), the Clerk of the National Assembly, and the Director General of Parliamentary Joint Services.
Firefighters from the Nairobi City County Fire Brigade successfully contained and extinguished the blaze. Following an assessment, the building was declared safe and free from immediate danger.


Authorities have not yet established the cause of the fire. The affected area has been cordoned off as investigations continue.
No injuries or fatalities were reported at the time of filing the report. Further developments are expected as investigators work to determine the origin and cause of the incident.
