“It stores its provisions in summer and gathers its food at harvest.”— Proverbs 6:8
The writer of Proverbs points us to one of the smallest creatures on earth to teach us a massive lesson about life: the ant.
Ants don’t have a boss breathing down their necks, yet they don’t waste time. They understand that the season they are in right now is directly connected to the season ahead. They work diligently in the summer because they know winter is coming.
It is easy to delay big goals or wait for “perfect” conditions to start working on our dreams, our health, or our faith. But true wisdom is found in the daily, quiet discipline of preparation. Faithful stewardship isn’t about one massive leap; it’s about the small, consistent steps we take when no one is watching. What you do with your “summer” determines how you handle your “winter.”
Identify one major goal or area of your life you have been putting off. Today, break it down and take just one small, 15-minute action toward it—whether that is budgeting, reading, or planning. Don’t wait for tomorrow; prepare today.
