A woman aged 54 has died after being stabbed to death by her husband following a domestic dispute over a missing family radio in Mwea, Kirinyaga County.
The incident occurred in Kimuri Sub-location on the night of June 16.
According to police reports, the deceased, identified as Peris Njoki Wanjohi, sustained serious stab wounds to the stomach during an altercation with her husband, Alexander Chomba, 48.
Police said the couple reportedly engaged in a confrontation over a missing radio before the suspect attacked his wife using a kitchen knife.
Both the victim and the suspect were rushed to Kalira Mission Hospital in Mwea for treatment.
However, Njoki succumbed to her injuries while receiving medical care.
Police further revealed that the suspect sustained minor head injuries, allegedly inflicted by the couple’s son after learning that his father had stabbed his mother.
The suspect was subsequently arrested and is being held in police custody as investigations continue.
Crime Scene Investigation (CSI) officers processed the scene, while the body of the deceased was moved to Kalira Mission Hospital Mortuary pending a post-mortem examination.
The case is being investigated by officers from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) in Mwea West.
