A businesswoman has been robbed of Sh410,000 in a daring daylight attack along the Kilingili–Ilungu Road in Emuhaya,Vihiga County, on Thursday afternoon.
According to a police report, the victim, identified as Seline Omina, had withdrawn the money from Equity Bank’s Mbale Branch at around 2:30 p.m. before heading home on a motorcycle ridden by Joseph Mbonga.
Police said that shortly after passing Emusutswi junction the motorcycle was intercepted and knocked down by a white saloon car whose registration number could not be identified.
Two masked men reportedly emerged from the vehicle, grabbed the victim’s handbag containing the cash, a Samsung mobile phone and personal documents, before speeding off towards the Khumusalaba direction.
The victim sustained bruises during the attack.
She and the motorcycle rider attempted to pursue the suspects up to Khumusalaba Junction but were unable to catch them.
Police officers visited the scene and commenced investigations.
Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) in Emuhaya are pursuing the suspects, while the case remains under investigation.
No arrests had been made by the time of filing the report.
