A 23 year old woman was raped after four armed men broke into a family home during a violent robbery in Highpeak Estate, Manjiri, Limuru, Kiambu County, in the early hours of Tuesday.
According to police, the gang stormed the home at around 4.30 a.m. after cutting through a section of razor wire on the perimeter wall before breaking a sitting room window grill to gain entry.
The attackers confronted the homeowner FMW aged 53 year old an employee of IPA Insurance Company, and demanded that she open a cash safe.
When she told them she did not have one, the gang proceeded to another bedroom occupied by her daughter WSM where one of the suspects raped her.
The assailants escaped with valuables including two laptops, a 43-inch Samsung television, a 13-kilogram gas cylinder and two iPhone 12 mobile phones.
The stolen items are estimated to be worth hundreds of thousands of shillings.
WSM was rushed to Tigoni Level IV Hospital, where she is undergoing medical examination and treatment.
Police officers from Tigoni Police Station, led by the OCS visited and processed the scene.
Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) in Limuru have launched investigations to identify and arrest the attackers.
No arrests had been made by the time of filing the report.
