DNK International One of Uganda’s longest serving MPs Gen Moses Ali has died at the age of 87.
President Yoweri Museveni has announced that his government will accord him a state burial saying that he was a staunch NRM member and loyalist.
Gen.Ali was commissioned as a second lieutenant in 1969.
He rose rapidly to Brigadier under Idi Amin by 1974 he led the Uganda National Rescue Front (UNRF) during the 1980’s.
Gen.Ali later integrated his forces with President Yoweri Museveni’s army in 1986.
He served in high profile government dockets for over 50 years, including as Second Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance.
Famously nicknamed the “Lion of Adjumani,” he was consistently re-elected as an MP, winning his final parliamentary race in the January 2026 general elections.
He passed on at Nakasero Hospital in Kampala.
