A 60 year old man is being sought by police after allegedly setting his brother’s house on fire following a domestic dispute in Kahuruko Village, Gatundu North, Kiambu County.
According to police, the suspect, identified as John Njau Wairigu, reportedly arrived at his brother’s home while intoxicated before chasing family members away and setting a two-roomed house on fire.
He then fled the scene, leaving the house engulfed in flames.
Members of the public responded and managed to extinguish the fire, but the house had already been reduced to ashes.
A 4,000 litre water tank belonging to the suspect’s mother was also damaged in the incident.
The complainant, Phillip Munyambu Wairigu estimated the value of the destroyed property at approximately Sh180,000.
No injuries were reported during the incident.
Police from Makwa Police Post and Kanjeria Police Station have launched a manhunt for the suspect, who remains at large.
