A Saturday evening fire swept through Paradise ‘B’ area in LungaLunga Nairobi,destroyed about 30 iron sheet houses and left dozens of families counting losses.
According to police, the blaze broke out at around 6.35pm before rapidly spreading to neighbouring structures.
Officers from Lungalunga Police Station rushed to the scene after receiving a report from Paradise ‘B’ chairman Isaac Owino.
Two Nairobi County fire engines responded to the emergency and managed to contain the inferno by about 7.30pm, preventing it from spreading further.
Police said household goods of unknown value were destroyed in the fire.
Fortunately, no injuries or fatalities were reported.
The cause of the fire had not been established by the time the blaze was extinguished, and investigations are underway.
The incident has left several families homeless as authorities continue to assess the extent of the damage.
