DNK International A retired senior police officer who once served as the Acting Provincial Police Officer (PPO) for the Coast Province has died at a hospital in Mombasa after complaining of chest pain.
Emmanuel Mwachitsi 79, died while undergoing treatment at Coast General Outreach Hospital in Vikwatani, Kisauni on Tuesday.
According to a police report filed at Kiembeni Police Station, the death was reported by the deceased’s wife, Ann Mwachitsi, who said her husband developed chest pain before he was rushed to the hospital.
He was admitted at the facility in Marimani Sub-Location, Mwakirunge Location where he later died while receiving treatment.
The deceased was a retired senior police officer and had risen through the ranks to serve as Acting Provincial Police Officer for the former Coast Province before his retirement.
Following his death, his body was removed to the Pandya Hospital mortuary, where it is being preserved pending a postmortem examination.
He is expected to be laid to rest at his ancestral home in Kinango Village, Kwale County.
