A gang of about 15 young men on Tuesday evening stormed homes in Muthaiga, Kiambu County during a raid where they stole cash, mobile phones, household items, chickens and a German Shepherd dog.
The incident occurred at around 7pm near the sewer treatment plant and was reported at Kimuchu Police Station.
According to a police report, the gang first descended on the rented house of a Rwandan national identified as Clemantine, chanting that they had come to flush out Burundian nationals living in the plot.
The suspects ransacked the house and escaped with two smartphones, a 6kg gas cylinder, a deep frying pan, six chickens, Sh7,000 in cash and assorted clothes.
The commotion attracted the attention of a neighbour, Agnes Mwanzia, who opened her house to establish what was happening.
However, the gang invaded her residence and stole a 32-inch GLD television.
The suspects also reportedly took her German Shepherd dog, which was on a leash outside the house.
After the raid, the group reportedly fled towards Kangoki dumpsite with the stolen property.
Officers from Kimuchu Police Station and detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), Thika West Sub-County, visited the scene and commenced investigations.
Police are now pursuing leads to identify and apprehend the suspects and recover the stolen property.
The case remains under investigation, with the motive behind the raid yet to be fully established.
