Veteran sports journalist Jack Kwemba is no more.
Kwemba, who worked as a sports writer for the then East African Standard and later, People Daily passed away on Tuesday evening following a tragic motorcycle accident in Ugenya, Siaya county.
Kwemba is reported to have been riding on the motorbike when a cow suddenly emerged from the nearby bushes, forcing the rider to apply emergency brakes which saw the veteran scribe fall off the motorcycle and suffer fatal head injuries.
He was rushed to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Kwemba’s death comes barely a month after another veteran journalist, Musa Radoli perished in very similar circumstances on the Kisoko-Busia road in the neighbouring Busia county.
Among the journalists who eulogised him early as a hard working scribe was Mugo Theuri,Peter Leftie,Pamela Wanambisi,Thomas Mukoya,Elizabeth Muthoni,Alfred Nganga,Mwangi Mumero,Claire Gatheru,CarolineRwenji,Hudson Gumbihi and Robert Gitonga.
