KNEC official raises alarm over suspected KCSE exam malpractice at Trans Nzoia school

By Our Correspondent,Endebess.

A Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) official has reported suspected examination malpractice at Sabwani Girls High School in Endebess, Trans Nzoia County.

The incident occurred on Tuesday when Samwel Ego, an Assistant Director of Assessment Development at KNEC, was conducting routine monitoring of the ongoing Kenya Certificate KCSE examinations.

According to a police report, Ego received reports about suspected examination irregularities at the school and immediately launched investigations within the institution.

Although the initial inspection found everything in order, he later noticed suspicious activities at the staff quarters, where he encountered children and a teacher identified as Alfred Langat.

Langat reportedly fled towards a nearby beans plantation upon noticing the KNEC official, carrying some papers but dropping his mobile phone in the process.

The school’s centre manager has since been relieved of her duties, while her mobile phone and that of the teacher have been confiscated to facilitate investigations.

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) is handling the matter as investigations continue.
