DNK International A man aged 29 is nursing suspected acid burns after he was lured to Mtito Andei in Makueni County with a fake promise of a driving job before being attacked by two men.
The victim, identified as Joseph Wainaina told police that he is a resident of Kiambu County and had met one of the suspects in Nairobi, where they exchanged telephone contacts.
The suspect allegedly promised to employ him as a driver and instructed him to travel to Mtito Andei for the job.
Upon arrival, he was directed towards Tsavo National Park forest, where he met the suspect and another man.
After a brief discussion, the two reportedly turned against him and poured an unidentified chemical substance on his face.
The attack left him with burns around his mouth and in a confused state.
He later managed to reach Mtito Andei Police Station, where he reported the incident before being referred to Mtito Andei Sub-County Hospital for treatment.
He was admitted in stable condition with suspected acid burns to his mouth.
Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) in Mtito Andei have launched investigations into the incident as they pursue the suspects.
