A student at Musavani Day Secondary School in Tseikuru Kitui County, has admitted photographing a Chemistry examination paper that was later circulated on social media, raising concerns over examination malpractice.
The incident was reported after a Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) official alerted Tseikuru Deputy County Commissioner Douglas Mutugi that examination monitors had detected a circulating copy of Chemistry Paper I, which candidates sat on Monday afternoon.
The paper reportedly originated from Musavani Day Secondary School and bore the name of a candidate identified (name with held)
Following the alert, the Tseikuru Sub-County security team visited the school to investigate the incident.
During questioning, the student allegedly admitted borrowing a mobile phone from the examination supervisor, Simon Kamwara, and using it to photograph the Chemistry paper.
The supervisor and the invigilator recorded statements before the matter was taken over by the Sub-County Criminal Investigations Officer (SCCIO) for further investigations.
Authorities said a progress report would be issued as investigations continue.
