As political activity ahead of the 2027 General Election gradually gathers momentum, supporters of Hon. Alinur Mohamed, popularly known as Alinur Finance, are positioning him as a strong contender for the Mandera gubernatorial seat.
Backers of Alinur describe him as a humble, approachable, and people-centred leader who embraces servant leadership. They say his experience in public administration, coupled with his academic and professional background, makes him well placed to steer Mandera County toward improved governance and sustainable development.
Alinur previously served as a Chief Officer in Mandera County during the administration of former Governor Ali Ibrahim Roba. According to his supporters, he played a role in strengthening financial management and administrative systems during the formative years of county government, experience they believe gives him a solid understanding of the county’s development challenges.
Supporters also cite his educational qualifications, noting that he holds both a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree from the University of Nairobi. They further highlight his experience in auditing and financial management at both national and international levels, arguing that it would enable him to promote transparency, accountability, and prudent management of public resources.
Beyond his professional career, Alinur’s supporters say he has consistently championed community initiatives aimed at empowering youth and women, supporting vulnerable families, assisting orphans, helping the sick, and advocating for people living with disabilities. They argue that these efforts demonstrate his commitment to inclusive development and people-focused leadership.
According to his backers, Mandera County requires leadership that prioritises unity, integrity, economic growth, quality healthcare, improved education, better infrastructure, and expanded opportunities for all residents. They believe Alinur possesses the vision, competence, and determination to deliver on these priorities if elected governor in 2027.
Supporters further contend that his accessibility, integrity, and willingness to engage with ordinary citizens distinguish him from many political leaders, describing him as part of a new generation of leaders focused on accountability, professionalism, and effective public service.
The 2027 gubernatorial election is expected to attract several candidates, with voters ultimately deciding who will lead the county. Alinur Mohamed has not formally secured the seat, and the views expressed are those of his supporters as political campaigns continue to take shape ahead of the polls.
