An attempted arson incident at Bware Mixed Secondary School in Uriri Migori County has been foiled and is under investigation by detectives.
This came after unknown individuals tried to set part of a school dormitory on fire.
According to a police report recorded at Mukuyu Police Station yesterday night,the incident came to light after a member of the public reported overhearing information about a suspected arson attempt while attending a meeting at Oyani Chief’s Camp.
Police officers rushed to the school and established that a mattress inside the institution had been partially sprinkled with petrol.
Investigators also detected a strong petroleum smell around the dormitory.
During the inspection, officers recovered bottles believed to have contained petrol and kerosene, as well as the affected mattress.
No injuries or damage to other property were reported.
