Before the spectacular fire of Pentecost arrived, there was a quiet, agonizing space of waiting.
The disciples stood at a critical crossroads, short one leader and facing an uncertain future. They didn’t panic, scheme, or rely on human politics. Instead, they rooted themselves in Scripture, established clear boundaries, prayed for discernment, and surrendered the final choice to God by casting lots.
There is a profound promise to claim here: God is entirely sovereign over the details of our lives. When we reach the end of our own wisdom, He holds the ultimate outcome. To experience this peace, we must obey the command to pray and prepare before we leap.
We are called to confess and avoid the toxic urge to manipulate circumstances or let anxiety dictate our paths.
Today, do your due diligence, lay your options before the Lord, and step forward—trusting Him to direct your steps.
