Police shoot notorious robbery suspect,arrest another in Tassia

Two suspected robbers were intercepted by police during a dawn operation in Tassia Gate, Embakasi, after officers responded to reports of a gang terrorizing residents within the area.

Officers on patrol within Juakali and the 75 roundabout-Baraka Estate route engaged a group of about seven young men alleged to have been attacking members of the public.

The officers,reportedly moved to the area after receiving information from residents.

On spotting the officers, several suspects fled, while two allegedly confronted the officers armed with a pistol and a Somali sword.

Police said one suspect advanced towards one officer while pointing a firearm at him and allegedly preparing to shoot.

The officer responded by firing his rifle, hitting the suspect on the right thigh.

Another suspect was subdued and arrested at the scene.

The injured suspect was identified as Brighton Mose alias “Sokoro,” whom police described as a notorious robbery suspect within the Tassia area.

The second suspect, identified as Collins Odhiambo, was taken into police custody.

Crime Scene Investigation officers processed the scene and recovered a homemade firearm, a Somali sword, a pair of scissors, a sharpened wooden weapon, three rolls of bhang and a cartridge.

Mose was rushed to Mama Lucy Kibaki Hospital where he was admitted in stable condition, while the arrested suspect remained in custody pending further investigations by DCI Embakasi.

The case is currently under investigation.
