“Then He lifted up His eyes toward His disciples, and said: ‘Blessed are you poor, for yours is the kingdom of God.’” — Luke 6:20
Jesus began His sermon with a surprising declaration: those who are poor are blessed because the kingdom of God belongs to them. The Lord was not glorifying poverty itself, but highlighting the posture of dependence upon God. Those who recognize their need for Him are positioned to receive His grace, provision, and guidance.
The world often measures blessing by wealth, status, and influence. Jesus measures blessing by relationship with God and participation in His kingdom. When we acknowledge our spiritual need and place our trust in Christ, we discover riches that cannot be taken away—His presence, peace, purpose, and eternal hope.
No matter your current circumstances, God sees you. Your value is not determined by what you possess but by whose you are. The kingdom of God is available to all who humbly come to Him.
Today, surrender every area of self-reliance to God. Trust Him completely, seek His kingdom first, and walk confidently in the blessings that come from belonging to Christ.
