A 13 year old boy was injured after being attacked by a crocodile while fetching water from River Athi in Kibwezi, Makueni County.
The incident occurred in the evening on Sunday in Makaani village, Kikumbulyu Location.
According to a police report, Jacob Mwangangi Makonge had been sent by his mother to fetch water and was accompanied by his friends when the crocodile attacked him at the riverbank.
The boy sustained injuries on the left rib and below the right rib.
He was rescued by members of the public and rushed to Kibwezi Sub-County Hospital, where he was reported to be in stable condition.
The Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) was informed of the incident, while officers from Kibwezi Police Station are investigating the incident.
