A Chief is recovering after being attacked and robbed by unknown assailants in Mwanyani Village within Kyangala Location, Kalama, Machakos County.
According to a police report made at Kyangala Police Post yesterday, the incident occurred on the night of May 26 around 9:00pm.
The matter was reported by area chief Jonathan Kyania who stated that he was walking home from a nearby shopping centre when he was ambushed by attackers armed with crude weapons.
The assailants according to the Chief they assaulted him, inflicting injuries to his head and face before stealing his Tecno Spark 10 mobile phone valued at Sh20,000.
Neighbours who heard him screaming for help responded and rescued him before rushing him to Kyangala Health Centre.
He was later referred to Machakos Level 5 Hospital, where he received treatment and was discharged.
Police officers visited the scene and launched investigations into the robbery.
No arrests have been made so far, and the suspects remain at large.
