A Court of Appeal judge has reported the loss of his licensed firearm after receiving information that it had allegedly been recovered from a suspected criminal in Joska.
According to a police report recorded at Spring Valley Police Station in Nairobi, Justice Aggrey Muchelule reported the incident on Tuesday evening after receiving a phone call informing him that his firearm had been recovered in the hands of a suspected criminal.
The report states that the judge, a resident of New Kitisuru, rushed to his home to verify the information and discovered that the pistol was missing from where he had stored it.
Justice Muchelule told police that he rarely carried the firearm and that the last time he physically checked it was in October 2025 when he intended to renew his firearm licence.
However, he did not complete the renewal process, and the licence expired on October 1, 2025.
The missing firearm is a Beretta pistol loaded with 15 rounds of ammunition.
Police have launched investigations to establish how the firearm disappeared from the judge’s residence and how it allegedly ended up in the possession of a suspected criminal in Joska.
On Monday a suspect linked to a series of robbery in Nairobi and its environs was killed in Joska and police are pursuing his accomplices.
