On this World Press Freedom Day, DNK International reaffirms that a free press is the bedrock of peace. In Kenya, the media landscape is at a crossroads. Recent shifts in ownership and a wave of job losses have threatened the independence and sustainability of our newsrooms.
More concerning is the rising tide of goonism—physical and digital attacks aimed at silencing truth-tellers. We must protect journalists from intimidation. A robust, fearless press is not a luxury; it is a necessity for accountability. We call for a future where Kenyan voices remain diverse, secure, and unbought.
