A 32 year old man has been killed while two others sustained serious injuries following a road traffic accident involving an ENA Coach bus and a motorcycle at Ligega area along the Kisumu–Busia Road in Ugunja, Siaya County.
According to police, the accident occurred at about 6:50 a.m today and was reported at Ugunja Police Station.
The crash involved an ENA Coach Scania bus driven by Simon Masinde Mutsami, which was carrying 47 passengers, and motorcycle ridden by Idd Otieno, who was carrying two pillion passengers.
Police investigations indicate that both the bus and the motorcycle were travelling towards Busia, with the motorcycle ahead of the bus.
Upon reaching Ligega, the rider reportedly slowed down while attempting to avoid a pothole, prompting the bus to hit the motorcycle from behind.

The motorcycle rider, Idd Otieno, 30, who was not wearing a helmet, sustained serious head injuries, while another passenger, Faith Atieno, a 15-year-old student at Sega Mission School, suffered multiple head injuries.
The injured victims were rushed to Pearl Hospital in Sega for first aid before being referred to Siaya County Referral Hospital for specialized treatment.
No injuries were reported among the 47 passengers aboard the bus.
Police officers visited the scene and processed it before moving the deceased’s body to Ambira Sub-County Hospital Mortuary, where it awaits a post-mortem examination.
