A man accused of impersonating a police officer has been arrested in Ndori Township, Rarieda,Siaya County following a patrol operation by officers from Ndori Police Station.
The suspect, identified as Kennedy Otieno Nyaoke, was intercepted while wearing a jungle green police hat, raising suspicion among the patrol officers.
Following his arrest, police escorted him to his residence, where a search led to the recovery of a police leave form bearing the name Kennedy Otieno and a police payslip belonging to Constable Dominic Koech Kiplangat.
Investigators also examined the suspect’s mobile phone and reportedly found several photographs showing him dressed in police uniform.
Preliminary investigations established that he had allegedly been masquerading as a police officer attached to Ndori Police Station.
The suspect was taken into custody at Ndori Police Station and is expected to be arraigned in court on Friday to face charges related to impersonating a police officer.
All recovered items have been secured as exhibits pending the court process, while detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) in Rarieda continue with investigations.
