The Congolese music fraternity is mourning the death of former Quartier Latin International singer Junior Kingombe, who passed away in Paris following a cardiac arrest today.
Junior Kingombe was a talented vocalist who made his mark as a member of the renowned orchestra led by Koffi Olomidé.
During his time between 2002-2009 with Quartier Latin, he featured on at least two of the group’s celebrated albums, Monde Arabe and Danger de Mort, where his vocal contributions earned him recognition among fans of Congolese Rhumba.

Music lovers particularly remember him for his memorable performance of the line, “Yo okotisa ngai kelasi ya ba je m’en fous,” in the popular song Pomme Verte.
He also left behind several notable solos on the albums Monde Arabe and Danger de Mort, as well as his song Exploit, showcasing his artistic talent and unique voice.
His death is a significant loss not only to his family and friends but also to the wider Congolese music community, where he contributed to the rich legacy of Quartier Latin and African music.
As news of his passing spreads, tributes continue to pour in from fans, fellow musicians, and admirers who remember his contribution to one of Africa’s most influential musical groups.
