A multi agency security operation has led to the arrest of four suspected members of a notorious robbery syndicate in Ukunda,Kwale county.
The operation which was conducted yesterday also led to the recovery of several items believed to have been stolen from tourists along the Coast and in Nairobi.
According to a report filed by the Tourist Police Unit (TP) Mombasa Sector, Bamburi Base, the intelligence-led operation was conducted in Ukunda, Msambweni area within Kwale County.
The operation involved officers from the Tourist Police Unit and Nyali DCI under the command of senior officials from DCI headquarters.
Those who were arrested werevidentified as Bernard Mbusu, Isaac Kinoti, Evans Muthengi, and Kelvin Mwangi Njoroge.
Police have described the four as habitual offenders linked to multiple cases of robbery and theft targeting tourists in the coastal region and Nairobi.
During the operation, officers recovered several exhibits believed to have been stolen in a previous incident reported on April 9.
The recovered items included a Microsoft laptop, a mobile phone, cash amounting to 100 Egyptian Pounds, 14 assorted Visa cards, and multiple other mobile phones.
Preliminary investigations have further linked the suspects to a high-profile murder case involving a British national, Cambel Scott, which was reported at Parklands Police Station in Nairobi in December 2025.
Additionally, the suspects are believed to have been involved in another robbery incident reported at Watamu Police Station earlier this year.
The suspects, together with the recovered items, have since been booked at Nyali Police Station where they are undergoing profiling and are expected to participate in an identification parade.
Police have indicated that the operation is ongoing, with efforts underway to apprehend more suspects believed to be part of the criminal network.
