Police in Makongeni,Thika,Kiambu county have arrested a 21 year old woman accused of seriously assaulting her mother following a domestic disagreement at their home in Phase 5, Kiganjo area.
A report of the incident was made at Makongeni Police Station and was reported by Maureen Mwangi, who informed police that her mother, Joyce Wanjiku, 43, had been stabbed by her daughter, Mercy Njoki Mwangi, after a dispute between the two escalated.
The victim sustained a deep cut to her left upper arm and was initially rushed to Thika Sam’s Hospital for treatment.
Police officers who visited the facility established that the injury had severed the brachial artery, prompting doctors to refer her to Thika Level 5 Hospital for specialized medical attention.
Officers later arrested the suspect at the family residence where the incident occurred and escorted her to Makongeni Police Station, where she is being held pending arraignment in court.
A blood stained kitchen knife believed to have been used in the attack was recovered from the house and secured as an exhibit.
Police have launched investigations into the incident as the victim continues to receive treatment.
