Police in Masaba South,Kisii countyb have launched investigations into the theft of a government vehicle belonging to the Lake Basin Development Authority under unclear circumstances.
In a report filed at Ramasaha Police Station at 6.30 am today,the incident was reported by Hezron Makori, a driver attached to the parastatal.
Makori stated that he had traveled from Kisumu on April 15, 2026, driving a grey Toyota Hilux double cabin registration number KBL 810G.
The driver indicated that he had been using the vehicle up to April 29, 2026, in connection with funeral arrangements for his father. He reportedly parked the vehicle by the roadside at Gesusu Township after being unable to access his home due to an impassable road.
However, upon returning to the parking spot at around 5:30 a.m. the following morning, the vehicle was missing.
He then informed his supervisor in Kisumu via phone and was advised to report the matter to the police.
Officers from both the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) and Kenya Police Service (KPS) visited the scene, located approximately 100 meters from the driver’s home.
