Light aircraft makes an emergency landing at Diani Beach

A light aircraft operated by Bush Air Safaris made an emergency landing along Columbus Beach in Msambweni,Kwale county after developing technical problems during a mid flight yesterday.

According to police at Diani Police Station,the aircraft had taken off from Diani Airport in the afternoon.

It had been chartered by Sentient Skies Ltd for a skydiving mission and was en route to the Diamond Leisure Hotel beaches when the incident occurred.

On board were the pilot, Captain Stephen Kimuhu, and five skydivers: Robert Kruger (South Africa), Neil Oliver (United Kingdom), Sharon Gishore (Kenya), Wanjau Njoroge (Kenya), and Wolfgang Luif (Australia).
All occupants managed to exit and land safely, with no injuries reported.

Police officers from Diani Police Station, alongside detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), visited and documented the scene.

The aircraft was at the beach awaiting recovery and towing back to Diani Airport.

Investigations into the cause of the technical issue are ongoing.
